Logging Section
A signal log definition configures the method of storing the value of a signal depending on a condition. If the log condition is fulfilled, the signal value is logged.
The Logging section displays the list of log definitions on each server in Studio. A log definition configures the method of storing the value of a signal depending on a condition. If the log condition is fulfilled, the signal values is logged.
The Logging section
The main view displays the available log definitions in a grid form, having the following columns:
UI Option | Description |
---|---|
Active | Activate/deactivate the log definition. |
Log Tag | The log definition name |
Signal Name | The signal for which the value will be logged. |
Description | The description of the log definition. |
Condition Name | The condition that needs to be met in order to log the signal value. See Log Conditions for more details. |
Max Days | The maximum number of days for storing the logged data (a ring buffer and/or the FIFO principle) |
Max Number | The maximum number of saved data (a ring buffer and/or the FIFO principle) |
Log Database | The name of the database for storing logged data:

Right-clicking on the Logging item in the Logging tree menu will open the contextual menu. The Logging contextual menu provides a single option for creating new log definitions.
UI Option | Description |
---|---|
New | Creates a new log definition. |
Right-clicking on an log definition listed in the main panel will open the contextual menu, providing the options to edit the column in which the contextual menu is opened, add or delete log definitions, import and export log definitions, expand or collapse the Logging Details panel and refresh the log definitions list.

Edit | Edits the cell in which the contextual menu has been opened (where the user right-clicked). |
New | Creates new log definition. |
Delete | Deletes the selected log definition. |
Export | Exports the current log definitions in an XML format. |
Import | Imports log definitions from an XML file. |
Condition Details | Expands/collapses the Logging Details panel. |
Refresh | Reloads the list of log definition. |
The Logging Details panel is expanded by default when selecting the Logging section in the Logging tree menu. It provides quick access to the selected log definitions settings. This panel provides the same functionality as the main panel.
